The short victories of Laurent Desbois as mayor of Outremont and Caroline Bourgeois as mayor of Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles were confirmed Thursday by the Court of Quebec.
Mr. Desbois was a candidate under the banner of Ensemble Montreal, the political formation of Denis Coderre. He beat Philipe Tomlinson, mayor of the borough since 2017 with Projet Montréal.
Caroline Bourgeois, an ally of Valérie Plante, became mayor of Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles in a by-election in 2018. She was trying to keep her seat against Lyne Laperrière, from Ensemble Montréal.
The results published on election night gave Mr. Desbois a lead of only 23 votes and Mr.me Bourgeois. Each party called for a recount of the ballot boxes, which ended on Thursday.
“Congratulations Laurent, it is a great pleasure to officially count you among our big family”, indicated Ensemble Montreal on social networks. “There is no doubt, the borough will be in good hands and will finally regain its pride. ”
The results of the new count in the district of Tétreaultville are still pending.
In the last two days, the victory of the candidates of Projet Montreal was confirmed in two other districts, as well as in the town hall of Côte-des-Neiges – Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.
