(Saint-Ubalde) A 9-year-old girl died after the snow fort she was building with a friend collapsed on them in a wood behind a residence in Saint-Ubalde, in the MRC of Portneuf, on Sunday.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was called to the scene around 2:40 p.m., along with paramedics and firefighters.
The first responders “had to carry out resuscitation maneuvers” with the nine-year-old child, who “is currently in critical condition”, said SQ spokeswoman Béatrice Dorsainville earlier in the evening.
The other girl, aged seven, was also injured, but there is no fear for her life.
“We have an investigator and the forensic identification service who go on site to carry out the analysis of the scene”, added Mme Dorsainville. She could not immediately clarify whether the children were accompanied by an adult during the event.
