Indeed, thinking to please him, Faustine Bollaert released images of Matt Pokora on the air when he started at Popstars. At the time, the young teenager, ready to do anything to succeed in this profession, had lied to production and had falsified his identity card to suggest that he was an adult. The reality was quite different since Mr. Pokora was only 17 years old: “I hate these images because I sing like a duck. I was 17, I had never sung in public and now I can’t do it. I can’t breathe” confesses the one who was nevertheless taken by the casters, and who above all won the competition alongside Lionel Tim and Otis Guilon. “Personally, I wouldn’t have caught myself” laughed the singer, who has since come a long way.

What would Matt Pokora’s life have been like if he hadn’t tampered with his identity card? The singer regrets nothing, and is happy to have taken this risk, which has earned him today to have succeeded in France as in the United States : “At the time, I sang during end-of-year shows or at booms. I got my friends together and sang Poetic Lover songs. I was 17. But you had to be an adult. So I I falsified my identity card to be able to participate in the casting” explains the one who holds the record for NRJ Music Awards trophies with 16 trophies out of 21 nominationsahead of Ed Sheeran (11 trophies) and Bigflo and Oli (10 trophies).
