MPs experimented with painful period simulator

Little cries of pain. Green MPs Sébastien Peytavie and Marie-Charlotte Garin had some of their male colleagues test a painful period simulator, while their bill to introduce a menstrual cessation must be debated from March 27 in the National Assembly. The text proposes that people suffering from painful periods, and who can justify it with a medical certificate, take up to 13 days of sick leave per year, without deficiency.

In a video published on X (formerly Twitter) Friday March 22, several deputies from all sides take part in the exercise… not without pain. “It actually hurts really bad!”reacts in particular Benjamin Saint-Huile, deputy for Liot du Nord. “Very painful”, also commented on former minister Clément Beaune, who once again became a Renaissance deputy for Paris. “It’s a good experience, it allows us to better put ourselves in our place… It’s horrible in fact”reacted the deputy Les Républicains de l’Oise Maxime Minot.

In February, the socialist group in the Senate failed to pass a similar text. The Minister of Health, Frédéric Valletoux, was open to discussion to “continue to break taboos”but he was opposed to this generalization which “turns our back on social dialogue”evoking in particular the “risk of discrimination in hiring”.
