Nearly 500 people took part in a vigil in tribute to Guy Lafleur in the birthplace of the “Blonde Demon”, in Thurso on Sunday evening.

Flowers, lanterns, sticks, hockey pucks and messages of love were placed at the foot of the statue of the legendary Canadiens forward, in front of Thurso Town Hall.
Many fans of all ages came to say goodbye to Guy Lafleur, and took the opportunity to thank him for never having forgotten where he came from.

“It really warms my heart. It’s really special and it’s moving. I hope Guy sees us from above,” said Lucie Lafleur, the sister of the famous number 10, in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.
The Minister for the Family, Mathieu Lacombe, was also present Sunday evening in Thurso. He indicated that he wanted Highway 50 to change its name to that of Guy Lafleur.
