Jurassic World – Domination: June 10
This year we are offered the sixth feature film in a franchise which, next year, will celebrate the 30e anniversary of the release of Jurassic Park, directed by Steven Spielberg. The peculiarity of Jurassic World Dominion lies in the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, present in the previous opus, but especially in the reunion of Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum. These interpreters of the first hour indeed take up characters who have not been seen the three together since The Lost World: Jurassic Parkin 1997. It should be noted that the realization of Jurassic World Dominion is provided by Colin Trevorrow, the very man who signed in 2015 that of Jurassic World.
No chicane in my cabin: June 10
For her first feature, Sandrine Brodeur-Desrosiers, already noticed thanks to her short films (just me and you was awarded at the Berlinale in 2019 and won the Iris for best short film at the Gala Québec Cinéma the following year), offers a youth comedy whose protagonists are pre-teens. A little tired of the sometimes tense atmosphere at home, a 12-year-old girl (Charlotte St-Martin) hopes for the divorce of her parents (Isabelle Blais and Pierre-Luc Brillant), firmly believing that she will then be Happier. But what to do when father and mother have no intention of separating? Co-scripted by Maryse Latendresse and the filmmaker, No chicane in my cabin is clearly intended for a younger audience that Quebec cinema more rarely woos.
Arsenault and son: June 17
After eight years of absence from the cinema, during which he directed numerous television series (bluemoon, Fatale-Station, Breakups and a few others), Rafaël Ouellet (Truck) offers a feature film for which he also signs the screenplay. For this thriller set in the garage run by a family with a bad reputation, the filmmaker has brought together a top-flight cast, including Guillaume Cyr, Luc Picard, Karine Vanasse, Micheline Lanctôt, Pierre-Paul Alain and Julien Poulin. “We want to create something that will be seen, loved and shared,” said Rafaël Ouellet to The Press at the time of filming. I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself, but I’m still aware thatArsenault and son represents another step in my filmography. »

Should we foresee for this second feature film by Cooper Raiff a fate similar to that of CODA ? Online broadcaster Apple TV+, which led the remake american fromThe Aries familyup to the Oscar for best film of the year, acquired the exploitation rights of Cha Cha Real Smooth, winner of the public prize at the Sundance festival, for the plump sum of 15 million dollars. A story of love and desire: June 17
Launched last year at the Cannes Film Festival, where it was presented at Critics’ Week, this second feature film by Leyla Bouzid relates the relationship developing between a young Frenchman of Arab origin (Sami Outalbali) who knows nothing about Algeria, the country where her parents are from, and a young Tunisian (Zbeida Belhajamor) who recently left her country to study in France. In addition to demystifying the clichés associated with North African culture, the director wanted to take a different look at carnal love. “The male gaze on the female body is the entire history of Art. But the female gaze placed on the male body is missing. With this film, I wanted to offer one and for it to be a hymn to physical desire, a call to love,” she describes.
Lightyear: June 22
In this new feature film produced by Pixar studios, we tell the origin of the character who inspired the toy in the different versions of Toy Story. Stranded on a hostile planet 4.2 million light-years from Earth, the famed space patroller must find a way home through space and time. It should be noted that in Quebec, the film bears the same title as the original version, given that in the films toy story, whose dubbings were produced in our lands, the name of the character has always been Buzz Lightyear (in France, he is called Buzz l’Éclair – hence the difference in title). Chris Evans lends his voice to the character in the original version.
Elvis: June 24
Baz Luhrmann, recognized for his flamboyant films (including red Mill), has just launched his portrait of the famous interpreter of Blue Suede Shoes at the Cannes Film Festival. At the heart of the story, the complex relationship between the star and her impresario, Colonel Parker, played by Tom Hanks. In the background, the rise of an icon at the very moment when American society is in turmoil. Austin Butler, for whom this is his first major film role, inherited the role of the King.
