Mourad Tsimpou died at the age of 19. Suffering from a rare disease, he was originally from the city of La Castellane in Marseille. He had also been nicknamed “the Zidane of the piano”.

He played like one breathes, without thinking, without reflecting. Mourad Tsimpou could improvise for hours. Discovered in 2018 at the age of 14, he was treated every week at the Timone hospital in Marseille and played on a piano, Chopin for example. A child from the northern districts and nicknamed “the Zidane of the piano”, Mourad was spotted by a record company and signed two albums. He even collaborated with André Manoukian or Soprano.

He even performed during a Top 14 rugby final in Marseille, an example of courage and talent for his audience. “It’s beautiful to play, to fight and to do the piano until the end”recalls one of his fans. Mourad Tsimpou died of a rare liver disease at the age of 19. In his last album, he had taken up singing. The prodigious musician had found his voice…
