An announcement that comes a few hours before the expiration of the agreement. The Kremlin announced on Monday July 17 that the agreement in force for a year on the export of Ukrainian cereals had “de facto” ended. “As soon as the party [des accords] regarding Russia will be satisfied, Russia will immediately return to the grain agreement”however, added the spokesman for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov.

Signed a year ago in Istanbul, this text considered crucial for world food allowed Ukraine to export its cereals by the Black Sea. In one year, nearly 33 million tons of cereals left Ukrainian ports, despite the war in the country. Vladimir Putin has repeatedly denounced the obstacles to the export of Russian food products and fertilizers, which was to accompany that of Ukrainian products according to the initial terms of the agreement.
Already renewed twice, this agreement, which was to expire at 11 p.m. (Paris time), was the subject of new negotiations led by Turkey and the UN in an attempt to extend it once again.
