Attacks continue to intensify on the Russian-Ukrainian border. Moscow claimed on Monday July 1 that it had destroyed 36 Ukrainian drones overnight in western regions, near Ukraine. This concerns precisely the Bryansk region, that of Kursk and that of Belgorod, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, without reporting any possible damage or injuries.

The night before, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had shot down the same number of aircraft in six western regions. Russia and Ukraine have made extensive use of drones, including large explosive devices with ranges of hundreds of kilometers, since February 2022. But Kiev has particularly intensified its attacks on Russian territory in 2024, targeting both energy sites that it says supply the Russian military and cities and towns just across the border.

On Sunday, one person was killed and nine others, including a baby, were injured in a Russian strike on a post office in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, local authorities said. The day before, seven people were killed and nearly 40 injured in a Russian strike on the Zaporizhzhia region, according to local authorities, who declared a day of mourning on Sunday.
