The Moroccan authorities decided, Sunday, November 28, to suspend all direct passenger flights to Morocco. This suspension will be valid for a period of two weeks from Monday, November 29 at 11:59 p.m.

An assessment of the situation “will be undertaken regularly in order to adjust, if necessary, the necessary measures”, explained, in a press release, the Moroccan interministerial committee for monitoring the pandemic. The terms of return flights for people currently in Morocco have not been specified.

This drastic measure was taken when Morocco has already prohibited access to its territory to nationals of southern African countries after the detection of the Omicron variant, identified for the first time in South Africa.

Morocco had previously decided to suspend, from Sunday evening, regular flights to and from France, as well as maritime links, due to the resurgence of the Covid-19 epidemic in Europe.
