Morocco or Algeria? Faced with a heated and endless debate, the mother of Gad Elmaleh makes a radical clarification on Instagram

If Gad Elmaleh has been forced to put his professional career on hold for two years now, his mother Régine has decided to take advantage of the boom in home food orders to start a lucrative business. At 66, the mother of the famous humorist has just launched her home catering business to distribute couscous to order. “It’s official: Mom wants to distribute her couscous all over the world” announced Gad Elmaleh on January 14th.

To carry out her project, Régine Elmaleh teamed up with Clément Benoît, the founder of the start-up “Not so dark” and of the company specializing in delivery Stuart Deliver. Together, they launched a concept called “WALIDA”. It’s mom who treats, It’s simmering, it’s almost ready…” can we read in the description of the Instagram account of the concept, already followed by more than 15,000 people. Passionate about cooking, Régine Elmaleh has therefore decided to combine using it with pleasure with this project and anyone can therefore order their little dishes at home!

This Monday, January 31, 2022, Régine Elmaleh took the floor on the Instagram account of her catering brand, to put an end to a debate which divided subscribers about the origin of couscous! While some claim that the dish comes from Morocco, others have tried to prove that it is from Algeria. What the comedian’s mother replied: “Couscous is the dish that brings people together, that unites. A symbol of generosity and love, it doesn’t matter where it comes from as long as we all eat it together”. A very nice way to end this endless debate!
