The Ministry of the Environment announced Thursday, mid-afternoon, the lifting of its preventive evacuation notice, in force since December 3.

At the end of the evening that day, civil security had demanded the evacuation of the municipalities of Lac-des-Écorces and Chute-Saint-Philippe following the discovery, a few days earlier, of accumulations of water downstream of the structure.

Three days later, the Ministry of the Environment warned the evacuees that they would have to wait at least until December 17 before knowing if they would be able to return to their homes, time to assess the effectiveness of the work. emergency undertaken to secure the dike.

On Thursday, the ministry indicated that “the work carried out by government dam management engineers made it possible to stabilize the Morier dike”.

“The work will continue over the coming days as will monitoring of the dike. However, its stability is no longer an issue,” continues the notice posted on the government website.
