Do you know the maximum recommended alcohol consumption so as not to play with your health? According to Public Health France, you should not exceed two drinks per day, ten drinks per week, and not drink alcohol every day.

More than seven in ten French people know these thresholds, and yet more than three in ten (31%) admit to exceeding them, according to a survey carried out by BVA for the League against cancer, and published by the Sunday Newspaper January 2.

“Many people identify a risk from two or three drinks, whereas alcohol is toxic from the first drink”, reminds the weekly Emmanuel Ricard, delegate to the prevention and screening promotion service of the League against cancer, while the month without alcohol has just started.

Lhe Covid-19 pandemic has also caused an increase in consumption in 17% of those surveyed. In details, 28% dhe 18-24 year olds are affected by this increase in consumption and 30% of people drink more than the recommendations. “In a context of unease, people tend to take alcohol as a crutch”, emphasizes Emmanuel Ricard.
