School harassment: more than one student per class on average is a victim

School harassment: more than one student per class on average is a victim – (FRANCEINFO)

The new Minister of National Education, Nicole Belloubet, made her first trip on Monday February 12. It was placed under the sign of the fight against school bullying: more than one student per class on average is a victim.

During her first outing as Minister of Education, Nicole Belloubet concedes, the observation is harsh: “more than one student per class on average is a victim of harassment“, she lamented. More than one per class, or 5% of schoolchildren from CE2 to CM2, 6% of middle school students, and 4% of high school students. These results are the result of a large national survey, carried out in November 2023. It will be perpetuated in the form of an annual barometer. The measure will complement the vast interministerial plan against school bullying, unveiled in September.

A lack of resources according to the unions

On the program: empathy lessons, confiscation of cell phones, exclusion of harassers from social networks. But unions still point out blind spots. “Gabriel Attal had not planned any creation of CPE jobs, we have no additional resources for the next school year“, deplores Sophie Vénétitay, general secretary of the SNES-FSU union.
