The situation is getting worse for Gaza residents, more than half of whom cannot feed themselves properly, according to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees. Children are the first victims of this lack of resources.
In Gaza, for the rare distributions of soup, everyone pitches in and the strongest fill their bowls. The others, often children, remain powerless. In the north of Gaza, at the Jabaliya camp, there is not enough for everyone. “People have no money, no food. They come here hoping to eat, it’s very difficult and very dangerous”testifies a resident.
More than 150 supply trucks daily
In another place, also to the north of the enclave, the situation is critical. Thousands of Palestinians gather for a few bags of flour. “There is no water, no food, children are dying”, deplores an angry woman. Before the war, nearly 700 food trucks entered Gaza every day. There are now only 150 of them daily. The crisis is felt on the plates. A “catastrophic power level”which, according to Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), concerns “more than half the population” gazouia.
