, the city of Loches will reduce its nocturnal public lighting to save energy. A third of the town was already no longer lit after 11 p.m.it will be a little more than half soon. The streetlights on the main axes will be extinguished at 1 a.m.while they had been on all night until then.
In addition to the drop in temperatures in public buildings and the change of the boiler at the Maurice Auqilon accommodation and leisure center at a cost of around 100,000 euros, Mayor Marc Angenault hopes to lower his gas and electricity consumption. “10 to 15% savings next year”. A bill multiplied by three in 2023
“It’s a three-year contract. explains the chosen one. Next year, we should pay 1.5 million euros according to projections made by SIEL. It is three times more than today. In 2024, it should be 2.5 times more expensive than at present and twice as much in 2025. You have to realize what 1.5 million euros represents for Loches. It’s just two-thirds of my operating budget, which is extremely worrying. It means that we will no longer be able to keep budgets.”
