A spectacular operation for an impressive result. More than five tonnes of cocaine were seized on December 6 by the French navy aboard a boat off the African coast in the Gulf of Guinea, the Atlantic maritime prefecture announced in a press release on Tuesday December 12 .

This seizure of 5,132 kilos of cocaine, worth some 330 million euros, was carried out on board a “semi-rigid of around fifteen meters of ‘go fast’ type”. Following this operation carried out as part of the “Corymbe” mission, the narcotics were transshipped onto the Navy’s High Seas Patroller (PHM). “to be destroyed there”. The nationality of the people arrested was not specified by the maritime prefecture. This mission also led to the referral to the Madrid anti-drug prosecution, then the arrest of “four suspected drug traffickers by the Cape Verde authorities”.

This action was requested by the French Anti-Narcotics Office (Ofast) and the National Directorate of Customs Investigation Intelligence (DNRED). It happened “in the light of information transmitted” by the Maritime Intelligence Analysis Operational Center, an international agency based in Lisbon (Portugal) responsible for repressing illicit drug trafficking, and by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the American federal agency responsible for combating illicit drug trafficking. drug trafficking.
