Several car models from the Stellantis group are being recalled due to airbag problems. The Citroën C3, C4, but also the DS 3, DS 4 and DS 5 are affected.
Friday June 7, Stellantis recognized airbag problems on three additional car models: the Citroën C4 and DS 4 and 5. More than a million vehicles are affected in France, according to calculations by the manufacturers’ watchdog. Stellantis indicates that its Opel brand is not at fault because their airbags are different. The airbags, produced by the Japanese equipment manufacturer Takata, could be dangerous, even fatal, because they can project metal elements when they explode.
A lawyer represents disgruntled French owners and launches a class action against the manufacturer, who he said had known about it for a long time. In France, Stellantis has asked C3 and DS 3 owners to stop driving if they are located south of a Lyon – Clermont-Ferrand line. A driver in Alsace is not affected, but his car is on the government’s Conso Recall site. Citroën assures him that there is no risk, which does not convince him.
