More than 800 collectives and political, artistic, activist and intellectual personalities are launching a call to demonstrate, Sunday May 5, to denounce “the offensive” in progress, according to eux, against the rights of trans people and to defend the right to freely dispose of one’s body. “The proposed law from Republican party senators against trans minors coincides with the release of a hateful book, Transmaniapromoted by the entire political extreme right”they denounce in a column published on the website of the weekly Politis, Monday April 29. “Reactionaries seek to establish in public debate the idea that trans people are a danger: to children, to society and to themselves”they add in this text.

In their sights, a report on the transidentification of minors written internally by the LR group in the Senate and published in mid-March. The report recommends, among other things, banning the administration of puberty blockers to minors who are diagnosed with “gender dysphoria” (the feeling of an inadequacy between the gender felt and that of birth). This measure appears in a bill which will be examined in public session on May 28.

Annie Ernaux, Vanessa Springora, Bilal Hassani, among the signatories

Among the signatories are notably the writers Annie Ernaux and Vanessa Springora, the actress Andréa Bescond, the singer Bilal Hassani, the associations Act Up Paris, Strass, Family Planning and even the left-wing elected officials Mélanie Vogel and Clémentine Autain.

They also denounce the publication and promotion of the book Transmania which presents itself as a “investigation into the abuses of transgender identity” Who “infiltrates all spheres of society”.

Questioned by the Paris town hall, the operator JCDecaux removed the posters promoting them in the streets of the capital, judging them to be contrary to its ethics charter and apologized.

Beyond the call to demonstrate on May 5, the signatories of the platform demand a “depsychiatrized transition, free and free for adults and minors”. They also ask for a “access to PMA for all trans people”, “stopping mutilation of intersex children” and “massive resources” for public services to ensure real access to abortion, transitions and contraception.”
