These phenomena mainly affected Nebraska, where at least three injuries were recorded.

More than 70 tornadoes were recorded in the central United States on Friday April 26, causing significant damage and injuring at least three people, according to authorities. Images filmed by storm chasers show immense black whirlwinds sweeping the sky, resulting in dozens of destroyed buildings, torn power lines and even overturned trucks.

In Elkhorn, a town of 6,000 inhabitants in Nebraska, the landscape is unrecognizable, the houses have been torn to pieces and trees have even been uprooted. “This is my son’s room.”describes a resident, pointing to his house whose roof and facade have blown away. “I told him to go sleep at his mother’s and I’m glad he did.”he confides, aware of having escaped a tragedy.

“The scariest experience in the world”

The residents are stunned by the extent of the damage and all report an immense shock at the passing of the whirlwind. “The noise was so loud I cried like a baby, it was the scariest experience in the world”testifies another disaster victim.

Further south, near the town of Lincoln, a tornado struck an industrial shed. The approximately 70 people who were there when the building collapsed were evacuated, but three of them are injured, but not in a life-threatening condition. According to the American weather services, new tornadoes could occur in these regions on Saturday April 27.
