Marseille customs officers hit the jackpot. In a press release this Friday, the Ministry of the Economy announced that 528 kg of cocaine had been seized. The drugs were hidden in a moving container from Martinique. The value of the goods is estimated at 37 million euros on the illicit resale market.
Tuesday, August 9 at 7:30 a.m., agents from the Marseille customs brigade checked a removals container, which had just been unloaded from a ship coming from Martinique. When they open the seals, the agents note the presence of numerous pieces of furniture and boxes. But the canine team’s dog notices a sofa. By unscrewing a sheet of plywood, the customs officers discovered 54 cocaine breads. Control of the move continued, revealing blocks of drugs in the seats, armchairs, enclosures, trunks, etc. A total of 464 packets of cocaine totaling 527.65 kg of cocaine were seized.
Another seizure of 71.6 kg of cocaine was made on July 20: 64 cocaine loaves were then extracted from two sofas of another move from Martinique.
