more than 3,500 dead in Derna alone

In the streets where the water rushed down, the force of the current carried everything away in the town of Derna (Libya). The river bed has widened, and the torrent gives way to a field of thick mud. Still standing, a building is half destroyed, while the buildings around it have been razed. “Everyone is here, come and help them get out of there”precise a resident. Thousands of residents are ensevelis in the ruins of their house.

Surprised during the night

The catastrophe is measured from the sky. For three days, survivors have been picking up and placing bodies on the sidewalks. Among the victims, there are many families and children, surprised during the night. On the morning of Wednesday September 13, a journalist filmed the seaside.
