More than 2,000 new cases of COVID-19 in Quebec

The daily number of new COVID-19 cases passed the 2,000-case mark on Friday. Quebec reports 2013, as well as six additional deaths.

Of the new cases, 1,862 were people who had not been vaccinated or received a single dose less than 14 days ago, eight had only received a single dose at least two weeks ago, and 143 had received a second dose at least seven days ago.

The province’s death toll stands at 462,246 people infected and 11,603 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

256 hospitalizations were reported on Friday, one more than Thursday. Sixty-two people are in intensive care, an increase of two from the previous day.

Twenty-six people entered the hospital on Thursday. Of these, 14 were unvaccinated or had only received a single dose less than 14 days ago, two had only received a single dose at least two weeks ago and 10 had received a second dose at least seven days ago.

Of the seven people who entered intensive care, four were either unvaccinated or had only received a single dose less than 14 days ago and three had received a second dose at least seven days ago.

A total of 40,192 samples were taken on December 8.

With regard to vaccination, 34,390 doses were administered in Quebec in the last 24 hours.

According to the Institut de la santé publique du Québec, 82.7% of the population has received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Among those 12 years of age and over, 91.4% have received at least one dose and 89.2% are adequately vaccinated.
