Even though Quebec passed the symbolic mark of 2,000 new COVID-19 cases, François Legault ensures that the situation is still “under control”.

“We are very far from the United States, from France, and the [directeur national de la santé publique], Dr. Arruda, tells us: here are the instructions that I consider reasonable and we follow the recommendations of public health ”, he indicated, Friday, on the occasion of the report of his parliamentary session.
About 250 people are hospitalized at the moment to treat symptoms related to COVID-19, which places Quebec in “a zone which is under control”, he added.
However, the Prime Minister refuses to indicate beyond what number of hospitalizations the health restrictions could be tightened.
As for the end of the obligation to wear a mask, he says he wants to “remain cautious”.
“Public health follows this day by day and we update once a week with public health and we have no date set to remove the masks,” he explained.
Quebec reported Friday, 2013 cases of COVID-19 and six deaths, bringing the total to 462,246 infected people and 11,603 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
As of Thursday, the province recorded 1,807 infections and one death.
