More than 20 offenses and bans: police arrest 77-year-old repeat offender who defied the law

A 77-year-old man, a repeat drink-driving offender, was arrested on Thursday for driving his vehicle despite a national ban.

Roger Murray, from Gatineau, was apprehended in the parking lot of a business after patrol officers noticed that his car did not have a license plate.

It was by carrying out a search on his identity that they discovered that the septuagenarian had on his record a ban on driving a motor vehicle due to around twenty previous convictions for impaired driving.

This is the eighth time the man has broken his driving ban. He will remain detained until his appearance for a release hearing.

Murray will receive tickets for traffic safety violations related to driving rights and registration.

In addition, the vehicle he was traveling in was seized for a period of 30 days.
