Where does this cocaine come from that washes up on the Normandy coast? That’s the question investigators are asking. Friday, March 3, the coast is still under very close surveillance, because for nearly a week, the ocean has continued to reject whole bags of drugs. More than 2 tons were found.

Bags attached to floats and life jackets, washed up on a Normandy beach, Wednesday March 1. Three days before, about forty bales were discovered. In total, more than 2 tons of cocaine were found in less than a week. Was the ship carrying them shipwrecked? Were they thrown into the sea before a control operation? Several avenues are being explored.

The Paris prosecutor’s office could take up the investigation

The merchandise failed in two stages. In Réville (Manche), Sunday February 26, 800 kg were found, then Wednesday March 1, 1,234 kg washed up a few kilometers away. The investigation must determine if it is the same shipment, and find the country of origin of the cocaine. For the time being, no arrests have taken place, but the coasts are being watched. Thursday, March 2, two helicopters and a large device were deployed to discourage curious people interested in the goods. Given the large quantity of cocaine found, the Paris prosecutor’s office could take up the investigation in the coming days.
