This is a case that caused a stir in France! And for good reason, a surprising discovery to say the least had the merit of unleashing passions – this summer – during a parcel check in Roissy. Last June, customs agents at Charles-de-Gaule airport seized more than 2 kilos of methamphetamine in a Ferrero Rocher box, according to ” 20 minutes “.
Obviously, the control team intercepted the package from Asia. The latter was intended for the Middle East… The package, however, did not attract the eye. Indeed, bars and boxes of chocolate simply composed it. But it was above all the size of the treats that puzzled the agents. “The shape of each chocolate is uneven and does not suggest a classic industrial production” we learn via the customs press release from Paris-Airports.
The chocolates were all opened by customs officers to confirm their doubts. According to them, the shippers racked their brains to succeed. ” A diaper [en chocolat] » enabled a “drug cover-up”. By scratching the surface, the officers then came across the methamphetamine crystals. With the help of a spectrometer “device that allows you to determine the capacity of an object without having to open it”, they were able to analyze the nature of this illicit product.
The airport in turmoil
The Massy laboratories (SCL) have also confirmed this hypothesis following countless analyses. All the chocolates collected made it possible to establish the value of the seizure: 120,000 euros. In any case, this is not the first time that Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport has had to deal with a drug case. In the past, a group of customs officers was suspected of having embezzled thousands of euros from trafficking. Their misdeeds allegedly took place between 1995 and 2012.
Unsurprisingly, a heavy sentence was required against them: deprivation of civic rights for five years, a ban on practicing their profession for ten years. The sum of 6 million euros was also claimed by the State.
