Philippine’s funeral took place on September 27. More than 1,800 people came to support his family and loved ones.
Behind Philippine’s coffin, her parents, devastated by pain and grief, were surrounded by a crowd of anonymous people, Friday September 27. Some were able to enter the cathedral and were shocked by the speech of the young woman’s fiancé. Behind the speeches, the portrait of a luminous student emerged. Philippine’s religious commitment was recalled by the priest, and many scouts came to bid her farewell. “She taught us to surpass ourselves, while respecting our neighbors,” assures a scout.
Inside the Saint-Louis Cathedral in Versailles, 1,800 people gathered, while outside, the crowd gathered despite the rain. Anger was sometimes mixed with emotion, and some felt that this tragedy could have been avoided. Philippine was buried privately on Friday afternoon in Montigny-le-Bretonneux (Yvelines), where her parents reside.
