168,215,000 PCR and antigen tests to screen for Covid-19 were carried out in 2021, including 48.8% of antigens, indicates the Directorate of Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics (Drees) Thursday 6 January, in a press release. It recorded a new weekly record of 8,298,400 tests performed in one week, from December 27, 2021 to January 2, 2022, and a new daily record with 1,878,000 tests on December 31, 2021.
“Despite this sharp increase in the number of tests, validation times have only increased slightly” in 2021, ensures the press release, specifying that the results of 86% of PCR tests were given in less than 24 hours during the week of December 27, 2021 to January 2, 2022, against 92% the previous week. Likewise, the waiting time for a PCR test result was 0.5 and 0.6 days, compared to 0.4 and 0.5 the previous week.
The people who were tested the most between December 27, 2021 and January 2, 2022 are people aged 41 to 65 (approximately 2,500,000 tests), followed by 26-40 years (approximately 2,200,000 tests), 16-25 year olds (approximately 1,500,000), 0-15 year olds (approximately 1,100,000), then the oldest people, 65-75 year olds (approximately 600,000) and 75-100 year olds (400,000 about).
