Residents of eastern Rafah began evacuating their neighborhoods on Monday, May 6. The Israeli army recommends that they go further west of the city.
A new exodus began in Rafah (Gaza) on Monday May 6. On carts, children cling to their bundles. Inside a house, a mother is packing packages in a hurry. This is his third evacuation. “We are tired of all this, we want to go home. We want to stop somewhere and feel safe”, she says, crying. 100,000 people from the eastern districts of Rafah are called to evacuate.
Tents on farmland
The IDF sent leaflets by plane, text messages on the phone and called residents on their cell phones. “Of course I take this evacuation order seriously. We don’t joke about it”, explains a resident. In its messages, the Israeli army indicates a withdrawal zone. Tents have been set up on farmland in recent weeks. For its part, Unicef is worried about the children, once again displaced.
