It was in the rain that a hundred people paid tribute this Saturday afternoon to Fayssal, this 18-year-old who was shot dead last month. A white march which was also and above all intended to carry a message: “never again”. The procession, led by the victim’s mother, left Avenue de la Paix before reaching the parking lot where the victim died.
Thursday, May 19, around 3:45 a.m., the victim had been fatally hit by two gunshots while he was driving a rental car parked in a parking lot.
The rally passed in silence. On the faces, we observed a lot of emotions. “We never say to ourselves that this kind of thing can affect our own family. Fayssal was someone with whom I had plans for the future, with whom I saw myself growing up and today I tell myself that it ‘is finished”deplores one of the cousins of the victim. “A lot of people may think he was just a human being on earth, but he’s not just a human being, he’s Fayssal. He was always there for everyone“assures one of her friends in tears.
Never again
“It’s a child who killed a child this story”, assures another friend of the victim. Weeks after the events, the family is still confused. “We don’t understand. He was a good kid. We’ve never seen this violence here in Amiens, that’s why what’s happening is making an impression”says another relative.
“I want peace for all young people. I want everyone to understand that we are actors in everything that is happening today. To live in a community, we have to do our part. we have to teach our children to distinguish between good and evil”assures the mother of the victim who at the end of the march spoke in front of the crowd.
The young woman assures that she intends to mobilize for her son and the others, in order to fight against violence and weapons. She also hopes to hold an annual tribute to her missing son.
The investigation continues
The murder investigation continues. The alleged perpetrator, aged 15, was placed in pre-trial detention on Saturday May 21. He had gone himself, the day of the discovery of the body, to the police station of Amiens with several members of his family, but had exercised his right to remain silent during his police custody.
