It looks like the Carolina Hurricanes will be able to count on the services of goaltenders Frederik Andersen and Antti Raanta when the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs begin.
In recent weeks, the two masked men have fallen in battle during matches. According to sports site The Athletic, the organization expects them to be ready to return to the post-season.
Anderson, who is having an excellent season, injured his lower body on April 16, during a duel against the Colorado Avalanche. The “Canes” would not believe that he is able to return for one of the two remaining games in their regular season.
For his part, Raanta was forced out of Sunday night’s game against the New York Islanders. According to the Sportsnet network, he suffered a simple cramp. The Finn should also be in uniform Tuesday evening, when the Hurricanes will be in New York to face the Rangers.
It was young Pyotr Kochetkov who took over for Raanta against the Islanders. It was only the 25-year-old Russian’s second appearance on an NHL rink. So far, he’s posted an .889 save percentage and a 2.03 goals-against average. However, he has won twice in as many occasions.
The Hurricanes are currently in first place in the Metropolitan Division, with four points more than the Rangers. The “Canes”, however, played one game more than the “Blueshirts”.
