1,400 families are welcomed to the Secours populaire in Colomiers (Haute-Garonne). A number that has risen sharply in recent months.
Flowers, strawberries, avocados… Those are unsold items. In Cornebarrieu (Haute-Garonne), like every morning, a team from Secours populaire comes to collect these products. They can be used by families in difficulty. The supermarket tour allows associations to build up their stock. “For this morning, it’s in the low average. But it’s very variable”confides Philippe Beaulieu, volunteer.
At Secours populaire de Colomiers, we regularly welcome more than 1,400 families. Since January, more and more of them have called on the association. An increase of more than 10% in just a few months. “Life is very expensive, whether in the market, in the shops, everything has increased”, says Atika, a beneficiary and volunteer of Secours Populaire. In France, the consumer price index increased by almost 5% in one year.
