Immediate appearance hearings for drug trafficking are increasing in Marseille, where job offers are flourishing on social networks. Many minors are approached.

More and more young people, often minors, are being approached in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) to join drug trafficking networks. Little hands hired as lookouts, touts or sellers. A Marseille lookout explains that many of his colleagues come from all over France. “They have nothing to lose, they are there every dayhe explains. There are some who sleep outside, or in hotels.”

“I went down to Marseille to get some money”

Recruitment is done on social networks, through epic style announcements. Young people are promised big salaries, between 150 and 400 euros per day for people.on the lookout in the field“, to profile “very quick-witted“. A 17-year-old minor, who came from Sarcelles (Val-d’Oise) to act as a lookout, testified: “I went down to Marseille to get some money. I didn’t have the means, there was no food at home for a month (…). I’m not doing this to scare people but it’s not a life to stay like that on a chair, it’s not a life.
