This father came face to face with a thief filling a bag with parcels he had just stolen while opening the mailboxes of a building. “It was a huge bag and the moment he opened he put everything inside, and that’s when I heard the sound of boxes colliding.”, he explains, while this type of theft of packages or checks is increasing in his building lately.

Against this scourge, tenants feel helpless, and for good reason: criminals often act without hindrance, thanks to a pass that allows them to open front doors and mailboxes. A universal key designed for couriers and letter carriers that can be bought legally on the internet. “Today we can buy PTT keys between 10 and 100 euros to have the 25 PTT keys machined for full access. (…) These keys should be just for professionals and should not be accessible to ordinary users”, relates Jérôme Jimenez, from the UNSA Police Île-de-France. The police encourage victims to file a complaint.
