As the “Choose France” summit begins on Monday May 13, foreign investors are increasingly settling in the country, and even more than in Germany or the United Kingdom. The Canadian giant McCain, for example, has a potato processing plant in Marne.
The “Choose France” summit will open Monday May 13. Energy transition, agri-food, aeronautics… In these sectors, France attracts companies, to the point of becoming in recent years the leading European destination for foreign investments. In a factory in Marne, the Canadian giant McCain processes potatoes from the region. It is one of the largest French fry production lines in the world, and the company plans to further expand the factory.
What ecological impact?
France is ahead of Germany and the United Kingdom in terms of foreign investments. Among the latest five projects is a nickel refinery, on the future Blanquefort battery site (Gironde). But the PS mayor of the neighboring town of Parempuyre, Béatrice de François, believes that conditions must be set. “It’s employment, it’s proximity for those who work, it’s financial revenue for the municipality“, she lists. She also raises the question of the potential pollution of these activities.
