On some beaches, tiralos allow people with disabilities to swim. Report in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.
On the Basque coast, in Anglet (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), it’s time for some to swim. At their disposal, tiralonoso much. These floating chairs are part of the various facilities offered by more and more beaches in France. Ramps, changing rooms and even showers have been designed to facilitate access for people with disabilities. “We don’t go everywhere, because my husband can’t do anything”says a woman.
133 labeled beaches
“It helps me a lot, I feel like I’m almost still valid”, reacts a man. The beaches can obtain the “Handiplage” certification, a label that works in stages, from 1 to 4 depending on the number of facilities made. Of 2,600 beaches in France, 133 have received this certification, i.e. 5% of coastal beaches. That’s ten more than last year.
