In Morbihan, young children can learn first aid skills, thanks to the initiative of a local association.

In Lorient, in Morbihan, young children aged 6 to 8 learn the right reflexes as well as first aid gestures as part of a training course. A method that seems to bear fruit, with young children who quickly assimilate the different techniques, under the watchful eye of one of their parents. The call for help, stopping a bleeding or placing in a lateral safety position is particularly taught to young children in order to raise awareness of life-saving actions. “It’s good that the children are ready early on”, notes Katia Coille, mother of 8-year-old Steven and mini-rescuer.

The initiative comes from the local association “Les little hero of Morbihan “of which Nicolas Morin is the president. The training paramedic noted that there was a lack of first aid training intended for young children, who have the ability to quickly assimilate all rescue actions. “They are able to retain a lot of things and can be actors in the situation”, he adds. And maybe give ideas for vocations to these budding rescuers.
