Montrealers will be able to pay a last tribute to filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée

(Montreal) Film lovers and all Quebecers will have the opportunity to pay their last respects to director Jean-Marc Vallée, this Saturday in Montreal.

His sons, Alex and Émile, as well as his family will receive condolences from the public on May 28 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the PHI Center in Montreal. The notice sent to the media specifies that those present will be able to reflect for a few moments in front of his ashes.

The family points out that rather than bringing flowers, those who wish can make a donation to the Memorial Fund created in his honor to support film students at Concordia University.

Jean-Marc Vallée died suddenly on December 25 at the age of 58. A coroner’s report found fatal cardiac arrhythmia secondary to severe coronary atherosclerosis.

The filmmaker died in his chalet near Quebec.

Media around the world had relayed the news, celebrating the genius of the director whose career came to an abrupt end when he was at the top of his game.

The Quebec director and producer won an Emmy for directing the hit HBO series Big Little Lies.

Jean-Marc Vallée had become a sought-after name in Hollywood after Dallas Buyers Clubstarring Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, garnered six Oscar nominations, including one in the prestigious Best Picture category.

The film CRAZYpublished in 2005, was a huge success in Quebec, winning no less than 14 Jutra awards – now called the Iris award – and 10 Genie awards.
