(Montreal) A worker was seriously injured on a road construction site early Friday night, in the east of Montreal, when he was hit by a car whose driver fled.

At daybreak, the driver was still wanted by the police.
As for the injured man, who is 56 years old, his life was no longer in danger according to what the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) learned.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Highway 25 northbound, near the exit of the Louis-Hippolyte-Lafontaine bridge-tunnel.
A restraint patrol made up of a few vehicles was on duty to slow traffic around the site. However, according to what the SQ learned, a motorist driving a small vehicle did not respect the slowing down instruction and hit the worker before fleeing.
After dawn, the SQ did not yet have a more exact description of the small vehicle.
Investigators and collision reconstruction experts carried out the analysis of the scene during the night. Normal traffic was restored on Highway 25 North around 5 a.m.
The Sûreté du Québec confirms that witnesses witnessed the unfortunate collision.
