A woman in her thirties was stabbed Friday morning in a Montreal motel. The attacker fled and there is no fear for the victim’s life, authorities report.

The armed attack occurred in a motel in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough around 11:40 a.m., specifies agent Véronique Dubuc, of the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).

“The medical authorities confirm to us that the victim is now out of danger,” said the spokesperson.

The suspect, who fled before the police arrived, stabbed the victim numerous times.

The 39-year-old woman suffered several injuries to her upper body while she was in the room of the establishment located on Saint-Jacques Street.

“The reason for the attack and the link between the two people are undetermined at the moment,” added Officer Dubuc.
