A woman with significant injuries possibly caused by a man was transported to a Montreal hospital early Monday night after being treated by police.
A few hours later, the nursing staff assured the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) that despite the seriousness of her condition, the 46-year-old woman’s life would be saved.
Meanwhile, a suspect has been arrested in connection with this case. He was to appear in Court of Quebec Monday afternoon, at the Montreal courthouse, on charges which remained to be determined a few hours after the events.
The SPVM reports that the victim was seen in the Montréal-Nord borough by police officers on a sidewalk on Boulevard Henri-Bourassa Est, around midnight, while she was heading on foot towards the police station located near from the intersection of Boulevard Lacordaire to request help.
She had significant injuries to her upper body. His transport to hospital was organized.
According to information collected by the police, the woman had previously been attacked in an apartment in a building on Avenue Gervais, less than a kilometer from the police station. It is possible that the victim and the attacker know each other and that the latter unlocked the door before entering.
When police arrived at the apartment, they found that the wanted man had already fled, but he was arrested after police searched the area. It concerns a 38-year-old man who was transported to an SPVM investigation center.
Investigators and forensic identification technicians from the SPVM were to examine the scene.
