Montreal: woman killed Friday, man arrested

A woman in her 30s was murdered Friday morning in east Montreal and police confirm that a man has been arrested in connection with the case.

Shortly before 9 a.m., the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) was not able to establish the nature of the link between these two people. The hypothesis of domestic violence could therefore not be confirmed.

The SPVM was informed around 7:50 a.m. of the presence of an inanimate woman in an apartment on rue Sherbrooke Est, near the intersection of avenue Yves-Thériault, in the Pointe-aux-Trembles district.

When they arrived, police began resuscitation operations, which were unsuccessful. The young woman was pronounced dead on site.

A security perimeter was erected and forensic identification technicians were expected.

A mobile SPVM command post was to go to the neighborhood a little later in the day to conduct the investigation.
