Montreal will load the snow on Tuesday

While the snow complicates travel, Montreal has deployed its snow removal teams and the City will load the snow starting Tuesday at 7 a.m.

Environment Canada announced accumulations of 15 to 25 cm in the metropolis. The City mobilized its teams to clear the traffic lanes and facilitate travel.

The Service de la concertation des arrondissements de la Ville de Montréal announced that a snow loading operation would be carried out across its territory as of Tuesday morning. This is the second snow loading operation since the start of winter, a measure that is triggered when an accumulation of 10 to 15 centimeters is observed or when the accumulation creates “aggravating conditions”.

For this type of operation, 3,000 employees are involved and 2,200 snow removal devices are used, the City said.

In anticipation of the storm, many schools were closed across Quebec on Monday. In Montreal, the Center de services scolaire de Montréal, as well as those of Pointe-de-l’Île and Marguerite-Bourgeoys, announced on Sunday evening their decision to close their establishments on Monday, as did the English-Montreal School Board. and the Lester-B.-Pearson School Board.

Travel is difficult in some areas and several clashes have been reported. Highway 20 East was closed at Boulevard de Montarville in Boucherville due to a pileup involving at least twelve vehicles, including four tractor-trailers.
