Montreal police are investigating two suspicious vehicle fires that occurred within a period of approximately 15 minutes overnight from Monday to Tuesday, a distance of three kilometers from each other.
Around 1:30 a.m., firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) were called to go to avenue des Récollets, near rue Monselet, in the borough of Montréal-Nord for a vehicle engulfed in flames, parked in roadside.

The car was towed for assessments.
Except that barely after having brought the fire under control, they received a second call, this time for a burning vehicle parked on 41st street, near Boulevard Pie-IX, in the Saint-Michel district.

The two scenes were transferred to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), which will investigate to see if they are linked, although it is “too early” at this time to establish a link between the two investigations, according to Julien Lévesque, spokesperson for the SPVM.
“The SPVM arson module will shed light on this,” he told TVA Nouvelles.
He added in passing that the exact origin of the fires must still be determined, indicating that it is also too early to know if there could have been traces of accelerants on the scene.
