Shortly after 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, shots were heard near Lester B. Pearson High School, at the intersection of rue de Charny and avenue PM-Favier, in Montreal North.

A 26-year-old man was hit by projectiles and taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. This is the 19e homicide to occur on Montreal territory.

Another injured, aged 25, presented to the hospital with upper body injuries shortly after the incident. We do not fear for his life, specifies the agent Manuel Couture, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

According to preliminary information, the two young victims were part of a group of four people who were talking in the schoolyard. A suspect approached them, then fired. He fled before the arrival of the police, indicates the SPVM.

Later in the evening, other shots rang out in the Rivière-des-Prairies sector, near avenue J.-J. Joubert and rue Pierre-Bonne.

A 20 year old young woman was targeted by at least one projectile while she was in her vehicle. She suffered minor injuries from shattered glass.

“She was alone on board and had just parked when a moving vehicle fired in her direction,” summarizes agent Couture.

There are no arrests in these cases so far.
