The freezing rain storm that swept through part of Quebec on April 5 hit Montreal hard. From the city center to the west of the city, hundreds of thousands of homes without power for several days. The island of Montreal had not had to deal with such circumstances since the 1998 ice storm, but can nevertheless count itself lucky that the temperatures were much milder this time.
