Montreal swimmer Mary-Sophie Harvey said she was drugged on the final day of the FINA World Championships and suffered a concussion and sprained ribs.
Harvey took to Instagram to say she can’t remember a four to six hour period and only remembers waking up with the Canadian team manager and a doctor at her bedside.
She also shared photos of bruises on her body.
The 22-year-old competed in the 200m medley at the competition in Budapest, Hungary. She took the eighth rung.
She did, however, earn a bronze medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay as she competed in the preliminaries.

“We are on the lookout for an incident that occurred the evening before we left Budapest,” a spokeswoman for Swimming Canada told The Canadian Press by email. As soon as our team found out, Mary received excellent care from our team at the scene and was allowed to go home.
“The team has stayed in touch with Mary since her return home and we offer her our support. We continue to gather information on the situation and the file has been forwarded to our independent sports safety investigator. »
Harvey admitted to debating whether she should write the post, but noted that “these situations happen too many times unfortunately for me to keep quiet.”
“I am still worried by what the mysteries of that evening, she wrote. Somehow I’m still embarrassed about what happened. And I believe I always will be. […] But I’m not going to let this event define me. »
Harvey notably participated in the Tokyo Olympics last summer. She is also expected to take part in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England this summer.
