Seasonal parking bans, which came into force on 1er April, are temporarily suspended this Thursday in Montreal due to the snowfall.
Sophie Mauzerolle, responsible for transport and mobility on the executive committee of the City of Montreal, made the announcement this morning on the social network X.
“I confirm that seasonal on-street parking bans are suspended today due to snow. The Sustainable Mobility Agency of the City of Montreal will show tolerance due to the specific conditions,” she wrote.

However, contrary information had been conveyed earlier by the City’s administrative spokesperson, Philippe Sabourin. In an interview on the radio show All one morning, Mr. Sabourin explained that there would be “no tolerance” despite the current weather conditions.
“It’s crystal clear. It’s clear. If there is a parking ban, you are really asked to move your car,” he said.
There was a communication problem, we are told in the office of Mayor Valérie Plante, because it was “always planned” that the seasonal bans would be temporarily suspended this Thursday.
Further details will follow.
