A vehicle was targeted by shots that were fired in the borough of Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie, in Montreal, on Wednesday evening.
Calls to 911 reported gunshots heard near the intersection of 20th Avenue and Rue Saint-Zotique Est.
At first, police officers dispatched to the scene had to comb the area, before finding casings scattered on the ground, according to the Police Department of the City of Montreal.
A large perimeter has been established to allow the investigators to carry out their work and find out more about what really happened.
The canine squad was requested on the scene to help in the search for evidence that could be collected on the scene, said SPVM spokesperson Raphaël Bergeron.
Later that night, a Toyota Yaris vehicle was found further north on 21st Avenue with bullet holes in the windshield.
Surveillance cameras could be used to see if images of the scene were captured.
No victims were found at the scene and no suspects were arrested, it was added.
